The 2023-2024 Division III basketball season has barely just finished but it is not too soon to start looking ahead at next season. It is great for fans any time we see big non-conference matchups early in the season and the Great Lakes Invitational is annually one of the best places where those kind of matchups take place.
It was announced during the 2023 event that Calvin University would host the 2024 Great Lakes Invitational and be joined in the field by Emory, Hope, John Carroll, Johns Hopkins, Marietta, Saint John’s and UW-La Crosse. While we knew who would be participating, we did not know who each team would be playing. Until now.
In collaboration with Ryan Whitnable, creator and organizer of the Great Lakes Invitational, The D3 Datacast was able to produce a special schedule reveal show to announce the pairings of next season’s event.
Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances, a slight revision to the schedule following the reveal show was necessary. The updated game schedule is below.

1:00 PM – UW-La Crosse vs. Marietta
3:00 PM – Saint John’s vs. Hope
5:30 PM – John Carroll vs. Johns Hopkins
7:30 PM – Emory at Calvin
Saturday November 23, 2024
1:00 PM – Hope vs. Marietta
3:00 PM – Johns Hopkins vs. UW-La Crosse
5:30 PM – John Carroll vs. Emory
7:30 PM – Saint John’s at Calvin
It’s such a deep eight-team field that names could have been drawn out of a hat and we would have gotten great matchups. That’s not how it works but it speaks to the field of teams Ryan was able to get to attend.
